📘 Training Manual: Understanding the Bill of Lading (B/L)

What is a Bill of Lading?

A Bill of Lading (B/L) is one of the most critical documents in international trade. It serves three main purposes:
  • Receipt of Goods

Proof that the carrier received the cargo in good condition.
  • Contract of Carriage

A legal agreement between shipper and carrier for transporting goods.
  • Title Document

Whoever holds the original B/L has the right to claim the goods.
